Steve Brown, a member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, shot a scorching 63 in the third round of the Investors Group Ontario Men’s Mid-Am Championship to set a new course record at the Burlington Golf and Country Club.
Brown finished the tournament with a -2 par 208 on June 21 to finish in a three-way tie for second place.
After setting the course record the day before, Brown lost the playoff round against the other two golfers and just missed a chance to play for Team Ontario at the Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship in August.
The tournament was won by Garrett Rank, an NHL referee from Elmira, who recently played in the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
