A series of career fairs will be held across the region as licensed childcare providers look to hire ‘immediate full and part-time positions’ including Early Childhood Educators, Educator Assistants, and support staff, according to the County of Lambton.

“With the Provincial and Federal governments planning to create 86,000 new child care spaces over the next five years in Ontario, career opportunities in the child care sector are booming,” a news release noted. “Now is the time to explore the many career opportunities in the child care sector.”

Sessions will be held at four locations in October:

Monday, October 3, 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. Forest Library (61 King St W, Forest)

Wednesday, October 5, 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. Watford Library (5317 Nauvoo Rd, Watford)

Thursday, October 6, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Petrolia Library (4200 Petrolia Line)

Tuesday, October 11, 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. Courtright Library (1533 Fourth St, Courtright)

Rural centres and home-based child care providers will be on-site to accept employment applications and discuss career opportunities. These career fairs are open to the general public to network, apply for positions, learn more about careers in the child care sector, and gather information for friends and family who may be interested in a career in child care.

The WorkPlace will be on hand to provide employment-related supports and discuss potential free training opportunities. These are drop-in events, and no pre-registration is required if attending in-person. If you are unable to attend, you can complete an online form to receive more information about open positions.

You can find more information about the events on the Lambton County Children’s Services Workforce Development Facebook page.
