Northern Collegiate students Gabby Jones and Ryan Davies capped off their impressive high school athletics careers with gold medals at the OFSAA Track & Field Championships in Ottawa over the weekend.

Davies won the open boys’ 2,000-meter steeplechase race Friday – defending his 2022 title – with a time of 5:58.09. He also placed fourth in the Senior Boys’ 3,000-metre race, Saturday with a time of 8:35.80.

Jones, the reigning Canadian cross-country champion, also won gold in the senior girls’ 3,000-metre run with a time of 9:44.00. She placed sixth in the senior girls’ 1,500-metres.
Meanwhile, LCCVI’s Hunter Campbell won gold in the junior boys’ discus, Thursday, with a throw of 55.91m.

Duncan Smith of Great Lakes Secondary School earned silver in the novice boys’ javelin on Thursday, throwing 47.51m.

On Friday, LCCVI’s Hunter Mitchell won silver in the novice boys’ 100-metre hurdles with a time of 14.45. He also placed 12th in the novice boys’ 300m hurdles.

Charlie Shaw of LCCVI placed third in the boys’ 800-metre run on Saturday, with a time of 1:55.25. He also placed fifth in the 1,500-metre race.
