The Lambton Lion’s women’s basketball team has a new head coach.

David Elsley, who took over on an interim basis in January, has been given the job on a full-time basis, the college announced.

Elsley is a teacher at St. Patrick’s High School and has been an assistant coach with the Lambton Lion’s men’s team the past two seasons.

“His experience as a coach with the men’s team will play a key role in allowing us to take our women’s basketball program to the next level,” said Rob Kardas, vice president of student success.

“We look forward to watching the women’s team develop under his leadership.”

The Lady Lions ended the season on a high note by making their first ever appearance in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association playoffs.

In the process, team member Riley Williams became OCAA women's basketball’s all-time scoring leader.
