An official who helped Sarnia slash its massive debt is leaving city hall.
Finance director Brian McKay has accepted a job at the Lambton Kent District School Board, starting June 1.
Under McKay’s direction, the city developed a “fiscal fitness” program that has seen the city’s accumulated fall to about $24 million from a high of $67 million in 2008.
Mayor Mike Bradley said McKay will be missed.
“I think Brian had the potential to be a city manager,” he said.
