Members of the IODE Errol Egremont Chapter will host an official dedication ceremony in Sarnia’s Coronation Park at 11 a.m. this Saturday, as part of a project launched to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee.

The local IODE group recently received a $5,000 grant from the Department of Canadian Heritage to complete the project — which includes a bench and commemorative plaque, completed with the help of the City of Sarnia’s Parks and Recreation department.

The IODE also partnered with members of Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton to plant more than 40 native trees at the park earlier this month.

Saturday’s event will include greetings from local dignitaries as well as the IODE National and Provincial officers.

The IODE Errol Egremont chapter was founded in 1980, Sarnia, and is a chapter

member of IODE Canada and IODE Ontario. IODE is a national women's charitable

organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals through education

support, community service and citizenship programs.
