Individual players shine on the court

A pair of outstanding individual efforts helped St. Patrick’s and Northern Collegiate finish in a three-way tie for third at the Southwestern Ontario open high school tennis championships on Oct. 18.

In the open division, which is for tournament-sanctioned players, Andrew Davies of Northern won the Boys Singles title and Ashley Gregoris of St. Pat’s took the Girls Singles title.

With their wins, both players advance to the all Ontario tennis championships in Toronto in June.

In the high school division, Courtney Tremain and Tristan Haagsma of Northern finished third in Mixed Doubles, just missing a chance to advance.

Other results from Sarnia schools include:

Chandler Haagsma (Northern) was 4th in Boys Singles.

Meaghan Gregoris (Great Lakes) was 4th in Girls Singles

Ethan Jones and Nolan Gladwish (Northern) were 4th in Boys Doubles

Elise McInnis (St. Patrick’s) was 5th in Girls Singles

Divija Bhargava (Northern) was 7th in Girls Singles

And Lyndsey Osler and Sam Ainsworth (Northern) were 7th in Mixed Doubles.
