Hospice receives donation

Published on

St. Joseph’s Hospice has been awarded a $45,000 donation from a local charity group that provides financial support to those pursuing studies in healthcare related fields.

The contribution from the Carruthers Foundation, announced during a Dec. 4 event at St. Joseph’s Christina Street office, will be used to improve training for staff at the hospice, which provides end of life care for terminally ill patients.

“The best investment is in education, in particular education of our frontline staff,” said Dr. Allison Crombeen, palliative physician at St. Joseph’s. “We already have phenomenal staff…but this educational time will really support them.”
