This is the third in a series of tributes to local residents lost to COVID-19 during the current pandemic.

Lynda Agocs, 69. Died: April 4, 2020

Lynda Agocs had so many passions in life, but her six grandkids always topped the list.

“She could not watch television without a pair off knitting needles in her hands as she knit a sweater for one of her grandchildren,” Joe Agocs says of his wife of 50 years and mother to their three grown children.

Lynda, whose family moved to Petrolia when she was six, “was a fabulous cook,” says Agocs. “And loved to entertain friends and relatives with a huge meal.”

Both were well known in the local theatre community, with Lynda most recently serving as the president of the Western Ontario Drama League. For 22 years, she also volunteered as the bookkeeper and treasurer at the couples’ Petrolia condominium building.

“She had the good fortune to extensively travel the globe, enthusiastically sharing culture and gifts,” Joe recalls, noting her love for fine chocolate and new friendships. “She was always planning our next trip overseas.

“Generous in spirit and kind in nature, Lynda donated both her time and talents to her local community and beyond.”
