A well-known local hockey player from days gone by has lost a battle with cancer.

Barry Edgar, who captained the Petrolia Squires to Allan Cup championships in 1979 and 1981, died earlier this month at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia.

He was 60.

Edgar died surrounded by his wife and four children while watching the Stanley Cup final on TV.
