Three bridges that connect north and south Sarnia are in line for rehabilitated, the Transportation Ministry says.
An environmental assessment is being done on Highway 402 underpasses at Airport Road, Blackwell Road and Waterworks Road.
The ministry said it expects the highway will stay open during construction, but impacts on local traffic won’t be known until it’s determined how much work is needed on each underpass.
It’s expected Airport Road will be reduced to a single lane, while Blackwell and Waterworks could either narrow to one lane or be closed entirely during the reconstruction.
A traffic management plan is currently being developed, a consultant hired by the ministry said.
