Highway 402 has been reopened in both directions after severe weather and multiple collisions forced its closure Friday.

The Ontario Provincial Police posted on Twitter around 11:30 a.m. Sunday that the 402 between London and Sarnia had been cleared and re-opened. The roadway was partly snow-covered, according to Ontario's road conditions website, Ontario 511.

Sarnia-Lambton was no longer under any weather advisories from Environment Canada, Sunday.

Drivers across Ontario are still being urged to use caution and avoid any unnecessary travel, and to keep in mind “how quickly conditions can change,” said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, media relations with the OPP highway safety division.

Schmidt confirmed one traffic fatality, Saturday.

“We are investigating how if any of the weather conditions played a part in that; but that is still an ongoing investigation,” he said in a video posted to Twitter. “Snd sadly one death has been reported.”
