High school tennis players advance to next round.

High school athletes managed to complete the LKSSAA northern tennis playdowns in Sarnia on Oct. 3, despite rain delays totalling three hours. City students who did well included Chandler Haagsma of Northern Collegiate who won the boys’ singles event.

High school athletes managed to complete the LKSSAA northern tennis playdowns in Sarnia on Oct. 3, despite rain delays totalling three hours.

City students who did well included Chandler Haagsma of Northern Collegiate who won the boys’ singles event. Javier Martin of Great Lakes, Lucas Piazza of St. Patrick’s, and Marco Glez of Northern finished second through fourth.

The top four finishers in each category advanced to the next round.

On the girl’s side, Northern’s Nashita Mukherjee and Divija Bhargava were second and third respectively.

Ethan Jones and Tristan Haagsma of Northern teamed up to take the boys’ doubles title. Luca Pasqualucci/Kaz Gudelis of St. Pat’s were second.

In girls’ doubles, Northern Susan Wu and Madelyn Pineau advanced with a second place finish.

The playdowns were held at the Sarnia Riding Club and the Sarnia Tennis Club.
