Groundhog Day is coming to Sarnia.

For the second year in a row, Oil Springs Ollie will visit Canatara Park on Feb. 2 for a shadow check and spring prediction at 9 a.m.

That will be followed by two 30-minute educational sessions about groundhogs, with hot chocolate, muffins and apples provided.

The city, Heaven’s Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, and the Seaway Kiwanis Club host the free event, near the Animal Farm, with help from Strangway Centre volunteers and Zekveld’s Garden Fresh Market.

For years, Oil Springs Ollie prognosticated in Oil Springs and Wyoming. But when Groundhog Day fell on a weekend last year an invitation was extended to Sarnia.

This year, Feb. 2 is on Sunday and Ollie decided to return.
