The Valhalla bantam girls team will cap a perfect inaugural season in the Ontario Basketball League with a trip to the provincial championships in April.

Following a few early blowout wins, Valhalla was matched up against better teams half way through the season and still finished undefeated at 12-0.

“While the competition got better, so did the level of our girls’ competitiveness,” said coach Fred Sheane.

“For a relatively new team, these girls have jelled remarkably well and are really starting to use each other on the court.”

The OBL, which was created and run by Ontario Basketball, features teams gathering once a month in a centralized location, and typically playing two games on that day.

“We have played some great teams like Barrie, Guelph and St. Catharines to name just a few,” Sheane said.

“The league has helped prepare us for the Provincials.”
