Doug Janson started at Praill’s after completing a horticulture program at Alexander Mackenzie High School and began working in its aluminum-frame greenhouse, the first in Southwestern Ontario.

That was 50 years ago this month.

The self-described “greenhouse handyman” does everything from tending flowers to deliveries to building maintenance.

“I’m a jack of all trades and master of none,” said Janson, 67, who has worked for three generations of Praills at the family-run business on Blackwell Road. “I’ve seen a lot of changes, but you have to change with the times.”
