Marilyn Gladu has won a national award for her work in improving palliative care.
The MP for Sarnia-Lambton was named this year’s winner of the Honourable Sharon Carstairs, P.C. Award of Excellence in Advocacy by the Quality End-of-Life Care Coalition of Canada.
The Coalition, a network of 34 national professional and health organizations, said Gladu’s private member’s Bill C-277 shone a light on nationwide gaps in palliative care, and began a new era in Canadian access.
The MP collaborated with local, regional and national care organizations in preparing he bill, which sets clear national guidelines for the development of a national framework on palliative care in Canada, the Coalition said this week.
