Gallery in the Grove is contributing $25,000 toward long-awaited upgrades to the building it shares with a Lambton County library branch.

Gallery officials have earmarked $10,000 for architectural designs and pledged another $15,000 for renovations at Faethorne House at Wildwood Park.

Plans include an accessibility lift and restrooms, as well as a one-storey addition and outdoor deck with patio furniture.

“We want this to be a jewel in the park,” said Gallery chair Kirstin Kilner-Holmes. “This is beyond just an (elevator) lift, this is a community hub.”

In 2017, Lighthouse Consulting released a report with recommendations for the city’s three libraries, which included expanding the Bright’s Grove site and improving accessibility.

Gallery in the Grove is a volunteer-run venue that features local and regional artists with six exhibitions annually.
