Five young scientists advance to national fair

Sarnia’s close affinity with science and research was on full display at The Lambton County Science Fair, held April 10-11. About 90 judges helped assess the 83 project entered at Lambton College, the highest number the fair has seen in recent years.

Sarnia’s close affinity with science and research was on full display at The Lambton County Science Fair, held April 10-11.

About 90 judges helped assess the 83 project entered at Lambton College, the highest number the fair has seen in recent years.

When it was over, five students and four projects had advanced to the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Fredericton, N.B., where 500 of Canada’s top young scientists will showcase their talents May 14-16.

The major winners were:

Caleb Winder, Imperial Oil Best of Fair, for his project, “Fusion + Fission = Future”

Priyank Patel, Nova Senior Best of Division, for “A Novel Approach to Energy Generation and Storage: Axial Flux Generators Paired with Supercapacitors”

Devarsh Shah, Judges Choice Award, for “Life’s 2nd Chance with Gene Therapy

Joy Shah and Parth Vachharajani, Judges Choice Award, for “The Road to Zero Tolerance.”
