In a bid to support existing Mitton Village properties and encourage new investment in the area, the city is expanding its fee exemption program.
For the next five years, applicants in the commercial zone can save 50% on the cost of planning applications and building permit fees.
The program is credited with helping private investors improve buildings and redevelop properties in the downtown and waterfront areas over the past 20 years.
Fees on 60 permits and applications were waived downtown between 2012 and 2015, representing $5.3 million in construction value, City Hall said.
