Sarnia’s Emily Schaefer finished in third place in the women’s 57-kilogram class at the Canadian Olympic wrestling trials in Niagara Falls on Dec. 7
Schaefer, of the Brock Wrestling Club, defeated Tianna Kennett of Saskatchewan in the third-place match but lost to eventual first place winner Linda Morais of the Montreal Wrestling Club.
The Northern Collegiate grad is a four-time provincial high school wrestling champion and currently the top-ranked wrestler in U Sports for her weight class.
She captured her fourth-consecutive gold medal at the national wrestling championships in Calgary, and earlier this year also won her fifth-consecutive provincial gold medal.
