Disc golf course eyed for Sarnia park

Sarnia is looking into establishing a ‘disc golf’ course in one of its parks.

Disc golf is a sport in which players throw a flying disc at a target, usually a steel basket on a post. The game’s rules are similar those of golf, with the winner recording the lowest number of shots. It’s usually played on a course of nine or 18 holes.

Coun. Nathan Colquhoun said disc golf is a safe activity for groups to play with pandemic precautions in place.

Hundreds of disc golf courses already exist across the border in Michigan, a state with more courses than in all of Canada, he said.

Council asked city staff to prepare report looking at the best possible locations and cost to set up such a course.
