Sarnia’s muddiest festival is getting a heaping helping of suds this year.

The Assante Dirty Dash for Rebound is working with a partner to add a foam obstacle to the third annual event, said organizer Jack Poirier.

The frothy addition will be one of more than 20 obstacles dotting the five-kilometre course at Canatara Park on Saturday, June 10.

The mud run has proven a popular draw that sold out its first two year, and this year should be no different, Poirier added.

“Each of the heats fill up so fast, but we ensure that as long as they register all teammates run together.”

The event has also piqued the interest of the group that organized the ‘That Night in Sarnia’ concert event. They’re planning an additional Beach Bash in Canatara that Saturday.

The event will feature more suds in the form of a beer garden and free evening classic rock concert, said That Night in Sarnia co-coordinator Aaron Zimmer.

“It’s going to have a big beach feel to it.”

Along with sausages, burgers and other barbecue fare, an area near the beach bandshell will be fenced off for beer and margaritas sales.

A separate family section will feature face painting and other activities.

Public access is free, and a portion of the proceeds will support Rebound.

Poirier said the fundraising goal is $60,000, with every dollar going back into programs for local youth ages eight to 24.
