This year’s United Way of Sarnia-Lambton campaign surpassed the $1 million mark today, but only 32 days remain.

The campaign has raised $1,010,000 of the $1,750,000 goal, the agency said.

“While we are grateful that our community has come together for the campaign this year, the reality is that we are far short of where we need to be,” said campaign chair Vicky Ducharme.

The umbrella fundraiser supports more than 40 local programs and services that address mental health, people in poverty, youth and seniors.

“We need to raise the remaining $740,000 before the end of year and we can’t do it without everyone pitching in,” said Ducharme, noting some companies have workplace campaigns underway. The campaign ends Dec. 31.
