Henri Podlacha controls a gust to elevate his 40-foot paraglider at Canatara Beach, though the wind proved insufficient to stay airborne.

The Sarnia man, who has been paragliding for a year now to stay in shape, said the network of suspension lines attached to his harness controls the shape of the fabric wing.

Experienced paragliders, despite not using an engine, can fly for hours and cover hundreds of kilometres in a single flight.
