Sarnia's Kristine Andali has turned a negative into a positive.

She was passed over as a possible wild card entry to the CrossFit Games finals in California this month, but didn't let the disappointment overcome her.

Instead, she attended a National Pro Fitness League combine event in Boston and subsequently signed a contract with the Philadelphia Founders of the NPFL.

The fledgling league, with teams in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angles, Phoenix and Miami, will play an abbreviated schedule this season before embarking on a full schedule in 2015.

The games feature 10 athletes - five women and five men - competing against each other in competitions that incorporate interval training, weightlifting, gymnastics and calisthenics among others.

Andali's first action with the Founders is scheduled for San Francisco on Aug. 28.

“I'm the only Canadian in the league so far,” she said proudly.
