The status of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton was stable today with no additional infections or deaths reported, Lambton Public Health said this morning.

The outbreak at Vision Nursing Home, the largest since the pandemic began, is likewise unchanged with 26 residents and 25 staff testing positive since April 23.

Overall, 266 people have contracted the virus and 24 have died, including 15 residents of two city senior homes, Vision and Landmark Village.

Testing has increased even as the infection rate slowed this week.

Three new cases are reported since Sunday, while health officials have now received results from 7,372 tests, a 13% increase from Sunday.

Meanwhile, Ontario has extending its emergency declaration and restrictions to June 30.

That includes social gatherings limited to no more than five people, unless they are all from the same household.

A full list of emergency orders can be found on the e-Laws website under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and at Ontario.ca/alert
