COVID-19 Update for Wednesday, April 8

There are now 87 COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton as of Wednesday morning, up by one from Tuesday, Lambton Public Health reports.

Officials say the number of deaths remains at eight, while five are listed as recovered.

Four deaths are linked to an outbreak of the virus at Landmark Village seniors’ home, where 15 residents and six staff have been confirmed positive for the virus.

Currently, 26 people with confirmed COVID-19 are being treated at Bluewater Health, while an additional 9 patients in hospital (presumed to have the virus) are awaiting test results.

A total of 520 tests have now been conducted locally, both in hospital and at the community assessment centre, with 80 pending, and 353 negative results.

That's up from 470 completed tests, and 59 pending, reported Tuesday.
