Council reverses direction on busing

City councillors admit they made a mistake when they cut busing on Sarnia Transit Route #9 and have reinstated the full service.

City councillors admit they made a mistake when they cut busing on Sarnia Transit Route #9 and have reinstated the full service.

Busing had been reduced to every 30 minutes from every 15 minutes during the summer, with service to Heritage Park by request only.

The decision to save $40,000 was made when the budget was set last December, without input from transit drivers.

It wound up disrupting the lives of riders and resulted in overcrowding and other problems, said councillors, who reversed the decision last week.

“We can learn from our mistakes,” said Coun. Bev MacDougall.
