Coronavirus brings early end to Sarnia Sting season

The Sarnia Sting’s hockey season has ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sarnia Sting’s hockey season has ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The balance of the 2019-20 season and all hockey activity was cancelled until further notice based on the recommendation of provincial and federal health officials, the Canadian Hockey League, which oversees the Ontario Hockey League, said in a release last week.

The move covered the six games remaining on Sarnia’s season, including four home games at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club fully supports the decision, the club said on its website following the announcement.

"Our organization strongly encourage our fans and the rest of the Sarnia–Lambton community to follow all preventative measures recommended by Health Canada and other agencies."

Tickets for any remaining regular seasons games will be honoured at the rescheduled dates, they added. The box office will be closed until further notice.
