City police have a new contract.
The deal provides wage increases of 1.5% annually over the next three years to 111 uniform officers, 44 full-time and 24 part-time civilian employees, starting Jan. 1
The settlement reached last week between the Sarnia Police Services Board and Sarnia Police Association includes minor pay and allowance adjustments, the service said.
Entry-level salaries for new police recruits, who will now be called cadets, will decrease to 50% of a first class constable’s pay.
The contract will add $296,000 to the city budget in 2017, rising to an additional $383,000 by 2019.
