Former Sarnia Sting rearguard Connor Murphy has signed a new long-term contract with the NHL's Arizona Coyotes.

The six-year deal is reportedly worth just over $23 million.

The Dublin, Ohio native played parts of two seasons with the Sting, notching 14 goals and adding 30 assists in 68 games.

Murphy also won a gold medal as part of Team USA at the World Junior Hockey Championships in 2013 while a member of the Sting.

The first round draft choice of the Coyotes, 20th overall, in 2011 has 11 goals and 32 points in 181 games with Arizona over three seasons.

The Murphy signing came a day after Jordan Kyrou inked a three-year entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues.

Kryou was a second-round pick of the Blues at this year's NHL draft in June.

The 18-year-old had 30 goals, 87 points and is a plus-21 over the past two seasons with the Sting.
