The city’s parks and recreation department is inviting volunteers and clubs to join the 4th annual Community Parks Clean-Up Day.

The event on Saturday, April 21 coincides with Earth week and features neighbours and community groups pitching in at local city parks, boulevards and other public spaces.

Groups can identify and register a specific park or place they want to clean up, and will be provided with gloves, garbage bags, paint, rakes, safety information and first-aid kits.

Volunteers who aren’t part of a crew can register to join a community cleanup group working in Canatara Park that day.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and is followed by a free barbecue in Canatara for all registered volunteers.

Last year, more than 500 people helped revitalize 24 parks and the Howard Watson Nature Trail.

For more, or to register a park or to volunteer, visit the City of Sarnia website or call 519-332-0330, ext. 3210.

Deadline to register is April 16.
