The creation of a deputy mayor’s position has been delayed.
Coun. Anne Marie Gillis has asked that the question be deferred until after 2018 municipal election, when a new council could decide the issue.
Councillors had been expecting to appoint Gillis deputy mayor by virtue of her having received the most votes in the last election.
Gillis’ request will be considered in January when council reviews proposed changes to its procedural bylaw.
