Bell Canada’s $50-million investment to run fibre optic cable to 20,000 Sarnia homes has prompted City Hall to add more employees.

At Bell’s expense, two development technologists and an IT infrastructure analyst are being hired on a two-year contract basis.

The new positions will assist Bell in sorting out Sarnia’s digital infrastructure, review permits and provide site inspections.

The company’s “Fibre to the Home” project, which will improve phone, TV and Internet service, is expected to start shortly on Mackenzie Street and Cardiff Drive.
