Sarnia’s City Hall has been reorganized.

On June 29, the parks and recreation department merged with the division known as community development and standards to create a new, larger entity called the Community Services Division, headed by general manager Stacey Forfar.

Smaller departments that oversaw property, arenas, pools and sportfields merged into a single department within Community Services.

Likewise, most corporate functions including finance, information technology, human resources, emergency management, communications and customer services were amalgamated under the Corporate Services Division, led by general manager David Logan.

CAO Chris Carter said the shuffle was triggered by the upcoming retirement of parks and rec director Rob Harwood, which created an opportunity to find internal efficiencies in the organization.
