City appealing water board’s decision

Sarnia is appealing to the Ontario Municipal Board a decision by the Lambton Area Water Supply System to take over the Brigden and Wyoming water towers.

Sarnia is appealing to the Ontario Municipal Board a decision by the Lambton Area Water Supply System to take over the Brigden and Wyoming water towers.

The LAWSS board decided in February to add both water towers and their associated water lines to the system. Sarnia responded by saying it opposed any transfer of municipal assets that aren’t essential to the operation of the water distribution system.

Sarnia’s appeal to the OMB contends that the LAWSS board failed to follow the required steps prior to the transfer.

The Lambton Area Water Supply System supplies drinking water to about 100,000 people in Lambton County, a majority of which live in Sarnia.
