Charges laid in plant explosion

Criminal charges have been laid in connection with an Oct. 25, 2014 fire and explosion at Veolia Environmental Services that killed one employee and left five injured.

Criminal charges have been laid in connection with an Oct. 25, 2014 fire and explosion at Veolia Environmental Services that killed one employee and left five injured.

The company and its division manager have each been charged with one count of criminal negligence causing death and five counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Eight people were working at the industrial cleaning and maintenance plant on Scott Road when an explosion and subsequent fire erupted.

The charges were laid following an investigation involving Sarnia Police and the Ontario Ministry of Labour.

A court appearance has been set for Jan. 12
