Each month the Chamber of Commerce hosts an informal, educational Lunch and Learn for Chamber members and non-Chamber members with various topics to help you and your business grow and succeed.
The Chamber of Commerce tries to address the most urgent business needs with our Lunch and Learn series and Chamber Members can submit their suggestions for topics to be presented at these casual luncheons by subject experts.
Recognizing that the challenges of recruitment and retention has spread to most industries and workforces, employers need to take strategic actions and find ways to differentiate their organization to attract and retain talent. The Chamber decided to focused October and November’s Lunch and Learn on this raising concern for employers identifying and discussing achievable methods available to them.
October’s Lunch and Learn was a Retention Panel in partnership with Sarnia Lambton Economic Partnership, Sarnia Lambton Workforce Development Board and Sarnia Lambton Business Development Corp, moderated by SLEP’s CEO Dan Taylor. Rina Barker of Imperial City Brew House and Gigi Walent-Burke of Sound HR offered their stories of challenges and successes to the audience. While enjoying a lunch, the audience took part in a question-and-answer format with the panel.
Part 2 of the Recruitment and Retention series will take place on November 8th at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club and will be a discussion on the importance of Attraction and Investing in your talent and ways to offer incentives that take care your business and your employees overall financial needs. RBC specialist Fogho Ikede will be the speaker discussing ways to engage and retain valuable staff and creating a more focused, productive workforce.
