The Inn of the Good Shepherd is holding its first ever pet food drive, Cause for Paws, to help pet owners in need.

Sarnia Police and Sarnia Fire are working together to collect donations of unopened dog and cat food during the month of March.

“People who live in poverty struggle with isolation and loneliness (and) often their pet is the only bright spot in their life,” said Alan Stevenson, CEO Canadian Mental Health Association Sarnia Lambton Kent.

“The ability to have access to this unconditional love should not be based on income.”

Donations of pet food can be dropped off at police headquarters, 555 Christina St. N., and at the main fire hall, 240 East St. N.
