David French of Sawmill Creek tied for fifth place at the Ontario Men's Amateur Golf Championships in Thornhill, Ont. last week.
After opening with identical rounds of 74 in the first two rounds, the Camlachie resident vaulted into contention with a five under par 66 in the third round.
He closed with an even par 71 on July 15.
His 72-hole score of 285 was one over par.
