Bluewater Heath announced this week the addition of ten new medial specialists to the professional staff.

“At Bluewater Health, we actively recruit specialists to meet the growing and changing needs of our patients and community,” said chief of staff Dr. Mike Haddad. “The addition of these new specialists is already having a positive impact on the care provided in Sarnia-Lambton by expanding services and keeping care closer to home.”

The new specialists include:

Dr. Anshum Bhalla, Hospitalist — completed her medical degree at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, India and her residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Before moving to Sarnia, Dr. Bhalla served the community of Port Huron as part of the Lake Huron Medical Center and McLaren Port Huron. “Bluewater Health has been welcoming since my very first visit. The staff and physicians are knowledgeable and driven by the common cause of wellness and kindness. The hospital is well equipped and offers multiple specialty services that provide exceptional care to the patient and their family.”

Dr. James Boudreau, General Internist — obtained his medical degree at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University, completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine at Dalhousie University, and recently returned to Western University to complete a subspecialty in general internal medicine. “Sarnia is my wife’s hometown, so we chose it to be close to family and friends and for the opportunity to benefit a community we care about deeply.”

Dr. Robin Bushell, Anaesthetist — completed his medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan and his family medicine residency and family practice anaesthesiology residency at McMaster University. “After doing part of my training in Collingwood, I knew I wanted to live close to the great lakes again. Sarnia is a hidden gem filled with natural beauty, and Bluewater Health has been an outstanding place to work. A perfect combination! I look forward to being part of this amazing team and this wonderful community!”

Dr. Elizabeth Lounsbury, Neurologist — completed her medical degree and her neurology residency at the University of Ottawa. “I am thrilled to be starting my career as a neurologist at Bluewater Health among such a welcoming group of colleagues. I have relocated with my husband, who grew up here, and we were drawn to this area by our love of water, and by our community of family and friends as we raise our young family.”

Dr. John Matheson, Orthopaedic Surgeon — completed his medical degree at Trinity College Dublin and his orthopaedic surgery residency at Western University. He has also completed a shoulder surgery fellowship at St. Joseph’s Health Care and London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario. “It quickly became apparent to me that Bluewater Health possesses the rare combination of an inspired and forward-thinking team, as well as the necessary resources with which I can see myself growing professionally and helping to serve our community - a community in which we already feel a part of and grateful to have the opportunity to raise our young family in.”

Dr. David Mattingley, Anaesthetist — completed his medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean, his post graduate training in anaesthesiology at the University of Toledo, and a fellowship in acute pain and regional anaesthesia at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining Bluewater Health, he practiced Anaesthesiology at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. “The opportunity to come to Bluewater Health and practice in the community I grew up in was something that really appealed to me. Sarnia is a wonderful community to live and work. The ability to practice in a healthcare system that is providing high-level care while also being able to be close to family was hard to pass up.”

Dr. Kathleen Nelligan, Plastic Surgeon — completed her medical degree and residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Western University.
