Bluewater Health has maintained its ranking at #32 on Newsweek’s list for Best Hospitals in Canada.

The hospital has steadily climbed the list – from 50th in 2019, to 38th in 2020 and 2021, and 32nd in 2022 and 2023.

The rankings are published by Newsweek as part of its Worlds Best Hospitals edition, developed by Statista Inc. — a global market research and consumer data company.

The top Canadian hospitals included Toronto General - University Health Network; Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre; and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.

“Our continued inclusion on this prestigious list of global healthcare leaders is an honour,” said president & CEO Paula Reaume-Zimmer. “To be ranked among top hospitals from large centres like Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver, is a testament to the quality of care provided here at Bluewater Health, and to the skill and dedication of our staff and physicians.”

The World’s Best Hospitals 2023 list ranked over 2,300 hospitals in 28 countries. The rankings were compiled based on hospital recommendations from peers, patient experience and medical performance indicators.

This year, a fourth pillar was added to the scoring model: PROMs implementation status. PROMs are standardized, validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of their functional well-being and quality of life.
