The Sarnia RCAF 403 Wing held its annual Battle of Britain service at the Golden Hawk Memorial in Germain Park on Sunday, Sept. 11, with cadets from the 44 Sarnia Imperial Squadron on hand to help honour airmen who lost their lives during the Second World War's Battle of Britain.

Here, Sgt. Johnathon Hemstreet observes a moment of prayer offered by 403 Wing Padre Chuck Stevens.

Hemstreet was one of four cadets who stood watch at the corners of the memorial's main platform.

Four pilots with the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, Flight 7, paid tribute to airmen who lost their lives during the Sarnia RCAF 403 Wing’s annual Battle of Britain service in Germain Park on Sunday. During a second fly-by, one aircraft departed to create the “missing man formation in honour of COPA pilot Keith Murray, who died Sept. 3 when his plane crashed near a local landing strip in Sarnia.
