Anti-poverty rally planned for steps of City Hall

Published on

Sarnia’s annual ‘Stand Up Against Poverty Rally’ returns to the steps of City Hall on Friday, Oct. 5.

The rally features stories told by people who have experienced poverty and offers resources in the community to help those struggling.

Living in poverty can reduce a person’s health, limit school and job opportunities and affect mental health.

The one-hour event begins at 12 noon and is organized by the local Poverty Reduction Network, Community Legal Assistance Sarnia, Inn of the Good Shepherd and Circles Lambton.

The rally is also held to mark the United Nation’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, which began in 1993.
