Police have recovered the body of a 75-year-old Sarnia man reported missing late last month.

In a news release issued Friday, the Sarnia Police Service said that around 5 p.m. on Jan. 12, "a pedestrian, in the area of Indian Road and Plank Road located a deceased person off an embankment within the tall grass and water. Police attended the area and located the body of an elderly male."

Anthony Robertson was reported missing Dec. 29

An autopsy was conducted in London, Friday, confirming the body is that of Robertson.

"According to preliminary information, there are no signs to indicate suspicious circumstances," police said.

Robertson was reported missing on December 29, 2022, and deemed a vulnerable person, prompting an intense search by the Sarnia Police Service along with other agencies including the OPP, London Search and Rescue, Huron Search and Rescue, and both the Sarnia and Point Edward Fire.

"The area where Mr. Robertson was located was outside the intense search area but a drone and a helicopter was utilized to cover the area," the news release added.

"At the time of the search, the water level was much higher and the water was very dirty which impeded visibility."

The Sarnia Police Service is thanking the public for its assistance and support.

"We would also like to express our deepest condolences to the family in this most difficult time."
