Another person has died of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton, increasing the death toll to 15, Lambton Public Health said this morning.

The fatality is linked to an outbreak of the virus at Vision Nursing Home, where four residents and two staff members have been infected.

Three new cases are also confirmed, bring the number of local infections to 192.

In addition to Vision, outbreaks continue at two other Sarnia senior facilities.

At Landmark Village retirement home, 30 residents (six deaths) and 10 staff members have contracted COVID-19 since March 26.

At Sumac Lodge, one member of staff is infected.

A staff member at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia tested positive, recovered, and the outbreak there was declared over on April 23.

Forty percent of the confirmed cases have been individuals over the age of 70.

More than 3,000 Sarnia-Lambton residents have now been tested, with 6% testing positive.

Meanwhile, a small number of businesses were allowed to reopen Monday on the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.

They include:
