Sarnia has renewed its agreement for the Sarnia & District Humane Society to manage the Children’s Animal Farm.

Under the new deal, the city will pay the Humane Society $155,200 annually to run the Canatara Park operation, an increase of $10,000.

In exchange, the Humane Society will relieve the city of winter maintenance, grass cutting removing the livestock manure.

The increase is offset by a $10,000 reduction to the parks’ budget for the outsourced work.

Patti Ross, Sarnia’s parks manager, said Humane Society staff are better able to deliver those services while maintaining the farm operations.
