Music teacher Amy Gilchrist leads the 25-member Sarnia Christian School senior band through a practice in the school’s outdoor pavilion, a twice-weekly activity approved by Lambton Public Health. “Wear a toque, wear mitts, we’re doing it,” she said. “We’re going to be stuck inside from January to April and we cannot do this indoors.” A drive-in Christmas concert is planned at the pavilion, built specifically for outdoor education due to COVID-19, Gilchrist said. “This is my new classroom,” she said, noting instruments and stands are hauled outside for each rehearsal. “It’s a bit of a pain but it’s either that or no band.” Troy Shantz
