The Errol Road School student, one of 23 individuals and organizations recognized, was describing his appearance last year on CBC-TV’s Canada’s Smartest Person Junior. As a national audience looked on, Liam had offered words of encouragement to another contestant, who was trailing badly and in tears. The gesture of kindness worked, the other contestant won three straight challenges, and Liam was eliminated from the competition but made the city proud. Glenn Ogilvie
